Blair Imani is an American author, historian, and activist — just to name a few. As a queer, Black, and Muslim woman, she has taken on the admirable and laboring work of educating others about a range of polarizing topics, including race and racism, intersectionality, gender, sociology, and U.S. history. She does all this and more with elegance, vibrancy, and a perky disposition.

Blair Imani utilizes TikTok as a platform for education on a grand scale.

Due to the conquering nature technology now has, Imani found a way to navigate society’s decreasing attention span and educate the masses. In her viral series “Smarter in Seconds,” she provides quick, thorough, and easy to understand lessons on U.S. history and politics, religion, sociology, and topics relating to the LGBTQ+ community. Her videos, both entertaining and informative, have gained hundreds of thousands of views, with some even in the millions, and have gained her a large following across all social media platforms.

Imani’s knowledge and insight go beyond TikTok, for the author expands upon her expertise and knowledge within her books. She is currently the author of three books: “Read This to Get Smarter: About Class, Race, Gender, Disability & More,” “Modern HERStory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History,” and “Making Our Way Home: The Great Migration and the Black American Dream.”

Blair Imani can impress and inspire with her speeches and conversational skills.

In 2019, Imani gave a presentation at TEDxBoulder titled “Queer & Muslim: Nothing to Reconcile” in which she examined the intersection of her Black, queer, and Muslim identities. She has also given presentations at universities and companies such as Oxford, Harvard, Yale, Meta, Sephora, Adobe, and Gates Ventures. In addition to public speaking, she has interviewed and collaborated with influential individuals, such as Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, Gabrielle Union, and Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw, and has led discussions about feminism, race, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Blair Imani as a business woman, influencer, and more.

In addition to her already extensive resume, Imani currently resides on the Board of Directors for the Tegan and Sara Foundation and on the Board of Advisors for Muslims for Progressive Values. The mission of the former foundation is to “improve the lives of LGBTQ+ women and girls” by raising awareness and funds, fighting for equality and justice, and supporting unrecognized, overlooked, and marginalized foundations and organizations. The latter “advocate[s] for women and LGBTQIA+ rights, for the separation of religion and state, and for freedom of conscience.” She is also a co-owner of Fempower Beauty, a cosmetics brand that focuses on affirming and uplifting those with femme identities.

Within her work, Imani advocates for those in her community and continues to make space for other marginalized groups and individuals through business, education, and philanthropy.
