Actor Abdulwahab Benyoucef, known as Ben Youcef, is set to star in the feature film Kill the Czar, alongside James Franco. The film is currently in post-production.
The Algiers-born actor trained in theater, but has since made his way onto the big screen and television roles after being discovered by none other than Steven Spielberg.
Classically trained Ben Youcef rises in stardom
Youcef began his career as a theatre actor, studying in London. He later met Steven Spielberg, and moved to the states. There, he continued acting as well as modeling.
After moving to LA, Youcef began taking small roles in major dramas like Law and Order and Chicago PD.
During this time, Youcef also met and began working with James Franco. He appeared in a number of Franco’s independent films.
An interfaith actor
Through his connection with Spielberg, Youcef joined the non-proft, interfaith mission made up of Jews, Christians, and Muslims in LA. His interfaith Call to Prayer garnered widespread attention and praise.
“Ever since I was young, my father told me as long as you always remember who you are and where you come from, you will be fine but if you forgot, you will be in real trouble,” Youcef said. “I consider this a rule in my life.”
