Best-selling and award-winning author Tahereh Mafi has released her latest installment of This Woven Kingdom, titled These Infinite Threads.

Mafi is perhaps best known for her beloved young adult dystopian thriller series Shatter Me. She has also written a number of books for middle grade audiences.

Tahereh Mafi’s fantastical influences

Mafi was born in Connecticut to a family of Iranian immigrants. She moved to northern California as a teenager, where she resides still with her own family.

Growing up, Mafi loved stories. But she rarely saw herself or her experiences reflected in them. “What’s it like to be a high school cheerleader, to date the quarter-back? Or to be a prom queen? These were as fantastical to me as reading Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings,” she says.

She hopes her own books—whether fantastic adventures in far off kingdoms or contemporary stories of American life—offer young people a wider range of experiences.

“These Infinite Threads” by Tahereh Mafi

Mafi is best known for her dystopian thriller series, Shatter Me, which was first published in 2011 and has 11 books to date. But her latest series, This Woven Kingdom, has met with great acclaim.

This Woven Kingdom mixes fantasy and romance, and draws heavily on Persian folklore and culture. These Infinite Threads picks up where the first book left off, with our young protagonists facing difficult choices and impossible situations.
