Early in December, Hayat interviewed chess prodigy Danial Asaria about the latest developments in his chess career. Additionally, he spoke to us about his recent transition to college, and his future aspirations. The young chess player told us that he intended to push for the coveted Grandmaster title–once he finished finals, of course. Now, he’s well on his way to that achievement.

Just before Christmas, Asaria attended the North American Junior U-20 Championship in Charlotte, NC. Coming away the first place victor means he now has the title of International Master, and is only 2 more successful tournaments from achieving his Grandmaster aspiration. 95 players from 23 states and 3 countries gathered to compete for this win.

Congratulations, Danial!
