Born in Tehran, Iran, Mahshid Shirazi has grown her beauty empire primarily in France. The make-up expert and beauty influencer loved art since early childhood, and more recently developed that love into her personal brand, Mahshid Beauty.
Hayat spoke with Shirazi about her love of art, her career and her role as a public figure.
Mahshid Shirazi offers make-up advice, tutorials
Like most artists, Shirazi draws on many sources of inspiration.
“I come from a country with cultural diversity,” she says. “It is so true that my people have been under the extreme pressure of the regime in recent years, who used Islamic laws against the people, but there are rich cultural heritages in my country, which can be a source of inspiration for any artist.”

“As I remember I was always in love with creation,” Shirazi says. “No matter in what way.”
As a child, she engaged with art of many kinds. But it was relatively recently that she found the joy of professional make-up. “I realized this is what I can spend hours on without noticing the passage of time.”
She launched her personal brand using social media as a vessel for connecting with others. “I always wanted to convey the pleasure I get from my work to others.” While usually practical and educational, her short videos often involve humor and joy as well.

She hopes to continue building an international community of women in this field, and is currently focusing on expanding to more platforms and wider audiences. With almost 750K followers on Instagram, her reach is only growing as more women look to her for advice, tutorials, and inspiration.
