Syed Hassan began “Love With Humanity” to serve his Calgary community in 2018. At first, the initiative offered free, multicultural books to the community. Since then, they have gathered and offered many things, from Christmas items to food baskets during the pandemic.
Now, Hassan has launched his third initiative: a clothing bank. This 24/7, all-season clothing drive offers “new clothes, shoes, socks, ties and other accessories for new immigrants and struggling families facing a variety of economic pressures…due to factors like uncertain job security and rising costs of living.”
Syed Hassan expands “Love With Humanity”
To date, Love With Humanity has opened 24 free multicultural libraries, 8 food banks, and now a comprehensive clothing drive.
Hassan installed the libraries with the motto: “Take a book/Read a book/Return a book”.
Meanwhile, the food banks went up with the motto: “Take a blessing/Leave a blessing”.
Now, he offers clothing to those in need, collecting from those who can give. The motto of this third initiative: “Take what you need/Drop what you can”.
All of Hassan’s initiatives bring together a community, to improve the lives of its members. Those who can donate or help do so, while those who need help receive it.
Hassan’s aim is to “reach out with love to all in need, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. The aim of [these] projects is to strengthen the community and help make Canada the best place to live for everyone.”
