Babak Hedayati is the CEO of one of the fastest growing marketing companies in the world. With over 20 years worth of experience as a Fortune 500 executive, he has helped some of Silicon Valley’s most successful companies grow.
Hedayati has a wealth of experience in tech software and hardware. He’s worked in the marketing and advertising industry, gaming, design automation and semiconductors. He is a business connoisseur when it comes to M&A, investments, value creation and successful turn arounds.
Now he is CEO of TapClicks, an innovative marketing platform used by over 5000 digital and media agencies.
Babak Hedayati: serial entrepreneur
Hedayati studied Electrical Engineering for his Bachelor’s at San Jose University. After that he worked as a product marketing manager across a range of industries. “I wanted to really understand markets and product fit scenarios across multiple technology fields in consumer and enterprise” he says. This included for Texas Instruments, Zycad, Intel Corporation and Xilinx where he was Senior Manager and Senior Director respectively.
Gathering this experience helped him fulfill his dream of becoming an innovator entrepreneur. He went on to complete an entrepreneurship program at Stanford University. He then attended Harvard Business School’s Advance Management to learn how to build and grow successful companies.
And then he did. Hedayati became the Senior Vice President of Infinion Technologies, a fortune 500 company that grew by 8x under his stewardship. That company was eventually sold for $10 billion before Hedayati moved on to start TapClicks.
Babak Hedayati leads a life of resilience
During his life, Hedayati has learnt how to deal with hardship. “I am an immigrant and hard times seem to be part of life,” he says. Hedayati fled the Iranian Revolution at the age of 12 to live with his brother in Santa Cruz, California. ‘Everything was new including the language and the culture and it was tough to survive,” he recalls.
Hedayati believes that there are always guides available during what may seem like insurmountable times. His childhood friend Omid Kordestani, who later became the business co-founder at Google, ignited his passion for entrepreneurship. “He . . . inspired me to become an innovator who can make a change rather than an entrepreneur who is only focused on making money” he says.
Hedayati believes in working smarter, not harder. This includes finding the best time to work for you, even if it is at an odd hour. His favorite hours are between 2 and 5am. “I find that this is the best time for me to set aside for strategic thinking and put my thoughts together to be an effective leader,” he says.
Babak Hedayati: CEO of TapClicks
Hedayati founded TapClicks in 2009. The pre-integrated platform brings together a number of technologies to make marketing more efficient and intelligent. It is headquartered in San Jose, with locations in Boston, New York City and Nashville. Meanwhile, international offices have spread as far and wide as Montreal, Canada; Bogota, Colombia and Pune, India.
TapClicks sets itself apart from other marketing technologies. Specifically, it shines in its ability to integrate huge datasets from more than 200 native sources. According to Hedayati, “its marketing data management solution is second to none in the industry.” No wonder it has grown to become the industry standard, far exceeding its competitors.
TapClicks wishes to harness the power of technology to make marketing as easy as possible for its users. “All you need to master Marketing Intelligence is to be a confident marketer and have access to the right tools,” says Hedayati. And the right tool it is, now serving over 5000 companies, including partnerships with Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
