As if the trifecta of modeling, singing, and acting weren’t enough, Nazanin Mandi has also shown her talents as an entrepreneur and designer. In fact, the celebrity-of-all-trades has combined many of her talents for her latest project: her first lingerie line, Elle Reve.
“I initially wanted to start the line because I’ve always been obsessed with lingerie,” Mandi told Forbes. “…The right lingerie gives the right amount of confidence. And I love that. I want women to feel their best at all times.”
Nazanin Mandi shines in every arena
Mandi got her first modeling job at the age of 10. For her first singing performance, she sung at Carnegie Hall, and studied classical and jazz music as a soloist during those teen years. But her real fame came at the age of 15, when she made it to the top 35 on American Idol.
Though Mandi was a fast fan favorite, her journey ended abruptly when producers discovered that Mandi was 15, while the minimum was 16. While continuing to make music off and on, Mandi also launched her acting career just a few years later, playing Picky Vicky on Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven.
To date, Mandi has over 25 acting credits to her name. Her career spans TV, reality shows, movies, music videos, and more. She has also modeled for major magazines like Vogue, Elle, and Seventeen, among others.
Despite a lifetime of making music, Mandi did not release a single of her own until 2019’s “FOREVER MOOD”. During the same time, she also became a brand ambassador for several major fashion lines, including Rihanna’s FENTY.
A rich cultural background set Mandi up for success
Mandi was born Nazanin Aliza Mandighomi to an Iranian father and Latin-American mother. Her ethnic heritage also includes Spanish, Mexican, and Native American.
In addition to her many successful careers, Mandi is a mental health advocate and ambassador for the mental health nonprofit Tangible Movement. She has opened up about her history of anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. Mandi also earned her life coach certification to help others facing similar issues.
“First and foremost my passion is acting, but with that said, I still felt a little something was missing,” she said in an interview with Tangible Movement. “That “thing” was purpose. I asked myself what besides acting lights a fire within me, and my answer was helping others reach their highest potential – whatever that may be.”
Nazanin Mandi helps women feel their most confident
Mandi has found ways to manage her anxiety and push past the body image issues of her youth. She hopes her new Elle Reve lingerie line can help women of all shapes and sizes do the same.
“We all come in different shapes and sizes that should be celebrated,” she told Forbes. “I think a lot of lingerie brands come off very exclusive which puts out the message if you’re certain size, you shouldn’t feel sexy. It’s time that the industry changes this narrative.”
