Paris-based makeup artist Andreea Ali began her career in her birthplace of Romania. Now, she lives and works in France. Her makeup tips, tutorials, “petite fashion” looks, lifestyle videos and more have earned her almost 1 million YouTube subscribers.
Andreea Ali takes her career from Romania to Paris
Like many makeup artists, Ali first started playing with makeup when she was a child. But she did not consider it as a career choice at first. Then, in her first year of college, Ali got a gig as makeup artist for a local television show. This marked her first foray into professional makeup. “That’s where everything started,” she says.“I realized that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
Ali relocated to Paris in 2016 after Anastasia Beverly Hills offered her the opportunity to work as a makeup artist there. Although she felt apprehensive at first, since Ali already had a large studio in Romania, she took the shot.
“I said to myself, ‘If I’m not going to do it now, then I’ll regret it for the rest of my life,’” she recalls. “I’d rather have bad experiences than think ‘what if’.”
A family of artists
Ali hails originally from Romania, of Turkish ancestry. Additionally, she has lived in Romania and Germany before France.
But Paris has especially captured her creative spirit. “Whenever I leave the house, there could be inspiration at every single corner,” Ali says. “It’s just so very chic and very romantic.”
Ali also married an artist, professional photographer Alexander Rosu. The couple she met through a mutual friend. “[The first time we met] I did not like him at all, I thought that he was such a kid,” she recalls in a Youtube video. However, Ali says that they have been together ever since their first real date.
