Named a Top 100 UK influencer, Safwan Ahmedmia has engaging answers for questions about the best tech products, from iPhones to cameras and more. The tech v-logger, better known by his YouTube handle SuperSaf, or just Saf, earned the title of ‘influencer’ after his channel gained over 1.4 million subscribers and 275 million video views in 2019.

In his videos, SuperSaf reviews the latest and greatest consumer technology. SuperSaf TV outlines the strengths and weaknesses of newest tech products. That way, Saf helps consumers make informed decisions. In addition, he travels the world from his Leicester home to seek and test the best new tech products.

Safwan Ahmedmia Develops Tech Interest

While Saf first uploaded a YouTube video in 2012, his interest in gadgets started when he was a child. “As kids, my brothers and I would use my dad’s old camcorder and record short sketches in the holidays,” he says. “I think that’s where my interests in cameras began.”

While working in interactive web and digital design, Saf launched his YouTube channel to advise viewers on product choices for cameras. He then turned his niche tech interest into a career. Transforming himself into “SuperSaf,” he expanded into smartphones and more advanced tech. “As smartphones became more and more a part of our daily lives, my interest in them grew too,” he says. “I’m totally guilty of not being able to stay away from my smartphone.”

“I strongly believe in making your own opportunities,” he adds. “And platforms like YouTube are perfect for doing just that. It’s not easy; it takes countless hours of hard work, determination, and passion, but the fact that you can build something great with minimal resources of financial backing is amazing.”

SuperSaf Advises Worldwide

Saf tries to bring a human angle to his role as a tech influencer. He made an appearance in the Stand Up to Cancer Live Stream event in 2018, when he got together with dozens of other YouTubers to raise money for cancer research. Last year, Saf again joined other influencers for the Alzheimer’s Research UK #ShareTheOrange campaign to raise awareness about dementia.

After surpassing 250,000 subscribers, Saf began to expand beyond his all-white studio in Leicester. His fame yielded a trip to Hawaii to attend the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Tech Summit 2019. Here, top leaders of the tech world introduced their latest innovations to the public.

His efforts – both in tech and altruism – have earned SuperSaf the British Muslim Award for Services Creativity and Technology in 2017, and a nomination for the 2018 Webby Award for Best Influencer Endorsements category. Check out SuperSaf’s YouTube channel here.
